PANIC SETS IN: [25] Kingston, Ontario

I'm leaving in just 12 days and I am SO disorganized; it's disgusting! Let me give you some examples:

  • I haven't booked my Eurorail pass yet. While I was at Stauffer Library 'researching' for my thesis-type-thing, I was tempted to book it, but of course, since I just got back from Orlando, I have lots of charges on my visa because the stupid Americans don't accept debit (unless it says visa on it, which is ridiculous). So I have booked a pass, but need to wait for the kind people at Eurorail to e-mail me back so I can pay for it...god knows how.

  • I haven't arranged my travel insurance yet...I won't need that, will I?

  • I haven't bought currency yet.

  • I haven't booked my hostel in Paris yet

  • I haven't reserved my ticket for the shuttle I need to get from Paris to the airport so I can fly to Rome.

  • I haven't planned where I am going after the dig.

  • I haven't contacted my friends in Paris so I can meet up with them after the dig.

  • I haven't started packing yet. I have at least begun now (mostly toiletries and dig supplies (like a sun hat and garden gloves).

  • I haven't cleaned up my room since before the last time I went out of the country (three weeks ago). I suspect that my room will only be clean/tidied after I pack and perhaps not even until I leave. What am I saying, I am chaos!

  • I haven't done enough research on my thesis-type-thing yet to justify leaving the country. I've done some...at least to be able to return the books I borrowed from the University of Toronto.

  • I haven't sorted out registration for next year. Registration sorted. Now I only have to get in and then register. I hope the computer remembers me.

  • I haven't e-mailed my parents my itinerary (yes, this should be lower on the list, I know). Hey, I've even posted the itinerary for all of you to see!

  • I haven't met with my supervisor in over a month.

  • I haven't learned how to use the damned video-camera yet so I can make a documentary about the dig (this could kick me in the ass later...). I generally know how it works now, but I have no idea how often it needs to be charged, and how quickly the space will film up. Maybe I should be more sparing. Less cat videos to post on YouTube later?

Um, I think that's about it, but it's a damn long to-do list for the next 12 days. And if you can think of anything else that needs to be done, let me know!

Yours cheerfully,

Laura (not panicking yet, at least she has her ticket for the plane!)
