THE MAP: [26] Kingston, Ontario
Okay, I've been a bit busy today. Supposedly, I am working
on my thesis. In reality, I am crafting the ultimate Paris vintage shopping list, compiled from the recommendations of my favourite blogs.
See above the work of an afternoon of labour-intensive drawing and many evenings of copious planning and blog-reading (I knew those months of procrastination weren't wasted!).
I would like to thank Google Maps for providing me with a very detailed and precise map of Paris; I could just type in the street address and get a lovely picture of the surrounding area. I would like to thank the blog Secrets of Paris for advice about where to wander in parks and obscure museums (like la Musée du Fumeur), because it's not just shopping. I would like to offer props to thecherryblossomgirl for being an intrepid and tireless vintage shopper and for posting the details on her site.
Finally, I would like to mention the site Paribulle, which has for a goal to help people «retrouver un regard croisé dans le métro ou dans le rue». My favourite posting on that site was by this guy:
Either this site is typical of the human condition and mankind's tireless search for true love, or it is typically Parisian and therefore excludes those Qui Ne Sont Pas Dans Paris. I don't know how I should feel about whether it gives me hope that True Love is not just an illusion or a societal construction ... in Paris, at the very least. Do people actually respond to such postings? After each Metro 'encounter' do people scurry home to see whom they might have just crossed gazes with? (I secretly hope so!)
Any thoughts?

I also was wondering if people ever respond to those, odds are if both were too shy to go up to each other in person they ain't about to meet up based on an ad in the personals...
